Is my lake covered?
Search for your lake. We create prints from available survey data, and coverage varies by lake.
How accurate is the map?
The shoreline and depth contours come from the survey the state or federal agency published for that lake (the Minnesota DNR for a Minnesota lake, NOAA for a Great Lake, for example), and the credit on each print names its agency. Every line follows the published survey; we don't invent or add anything. The survey year is printed on the art.
The depths don't match what I remember about this lake
That can happen. Lakes change, and each print shows the lake as its survey recorded it, with the survey year right on the art so you know which one you're getting. We draw the shoreline and contours exactly as the agency published them, rather than adjusting them to match current conditions or local knowledge. If the print isn't what you expected, email us. We'd rather make it right than argue about it.
Can I put my own words on it?
Yes. A title line replaces the lake name, and a second line replaces the county and coordinates. Both are optional and both appear in the preview before you pay.
What do I actually get?
A matte fine-art print on heavyweight 200 gsm paper with archival pigment inks, in the size you chose. Unframed prints ship rolled in a tube. Framed prints come in a black wood frame with acrylic glazing, and arrive ready to hang.
Which size should I pick?
12 × 16 in suits a smaller wall or a gift that has to travel. The mid size (16 × 24 in unframed, or 18 × 24 in framed) is a good default: large enough that every contour reads clearly. 24 × 36 in, framed or unframed, is a statement piece.
How long will it take?
Most prints arrive within 2 weeks. Framed prints take a few days longer to make, so allow up to 3 weeks. Every order is checked by a person before printing, then made to order and shipped to your door, and you get a tracking link when it ships.
Can I send it as a gift?
You can ship it straight to them: enter their name and address as the shipping address at checkout. No prices are included in the package. Gift notes aren't available at the moment.
How much does a print cost?
Every size and frame, with its price, is on Sizes & prices. Shipping to US addresses is free.
Can I cancel or return it?
Yes before it goes to production, and always if it arrives damaged or wrong. Because each print is personalized we can't take general change-of-mind returns after production. See "Returns, refunds & cancellations".
What if it arrives damaged, or the wrong lake or wording?
Email us a photo and your order number within 30 days of delivery. We'll reprint it or refund you in full, your choice, and you won't be asked to ship anything back. See "Returns, refunds & cancellations" for the full policy.
Can I use this for boating?
No. These are decorative prints, not navigation charts, and they say so on the art. Never use one to judge depth on the water.

How big is that, really?
Every size we offer, drawn next to a standard interior door for scale. Doors vary, and yours may not be exactly 80 inches, but it's a size most people can picture, which a number on its own isn't.
